World Hepatitis Day 2018

viewcount: 1374       Date: 2018-07-27

28 July is World Hepatitis Day. The date of 28 July was chosen because it is the birthday of Nobel-prize winning scientist Dr Baruch Blumberg, who discovered hepatitis B virus (HBV) and developed a diagnostic test and vaccine for the virus.

Hepatitis B and C are chronic infections that may not show symptoms for a long period, sometimes years or decades. At least 60% of liver cancer cases are due to late testing and treatment of viral hepatitis B and C. Low coverage of testing and treatment is the most important gap to be addressed in order to achieve the global elimination goals by 2030.

World Health Organization (WHO) will focus on the theme: "Test. Treat. Hepatitis" for World Hepatitis Day 2018 events. In response to World Hepatitis Day, Humanity & Health Medical Group and CSY China-International Hepatitis Research Foundation provide free hepatitis B testing, liver scanning service and blood glucose test for the public. Please send us private message or call 2116 1167 for enquiries. Quotas are available on a first-come, first-served" basis.
